August beauty favourites

Hello everybody and welcome on my blog!

I hope you all had a wonderful August! I can’t complain about mine but I’m happy it’s gone: Autumn is my favourite season and seems to never come soon enough. After choosing this month’s favourites I understood that they follow a sort of a theme: outliving summer hotness. Well, if you spend your summer in Puglia is quite hard to forget such a theme.

Roc soleil protexion SPF 50+     http://vitazita.com/
At the beginning I bought this to protect my tattoos from the sun and ended up, attracted by the fact that it was a cream for normal to combination skin, using it on my face too when I needed to go outside in the morning or early afternoon (my usual day cream didn’t have SPF in it). The cream has the same problem as all the other creams with high sun protection factor: leaves a white coat on the face, but if you apply it thirty to twenty minutes before putting on make-up or leaving the house it’s not a problem since it sinks in completely and the white lacquer disappears, which didn’t happen with all the other creams I’ve used in the past. Hydrates enough to be used as a  daily moisturizer but I wouldn’t recommend it to those who have dry skin, doesn’t create problems to those who have combination/oily skin as I do, but on the hottest days can feel a bit heavy and sweaty.
In a nutshell:
Pro: high SPF, moisturizes, a good makeup base.
Con: doesn’t absorb immediately, creates a white coat for a while and feels heavy on hotter days.

Evian eau minerale naturelle facial spray     http://www.evian.com/
This is a staple product for summer, the one that really can’t be missing in someone’s purse if he really suffers the hot weather as I do. On the bottle it says that it hydrates, refreshes and tones, things that does perfectly, plus helps you set your make up (if you spray it at a decent distance from your face or you’ll end up being just wet). if you keep it in the fridge and use it fresh it will become your best friend forever.
In a nutshell:
Pro: refreshes and hydrates flushed skin, helps setting your make up.
Con: you need to spray it as far as possible from your face.

Benecos natural mineral powder*     http://www.ecco-verde.it/
Loads of people recommended me to switch to mineral foundation during summer and, I must say, intrigued by the price too, I bought this powder and I don’t think I’ll ever come back to normal foundation. Has a low-to-medium coverage but you can build it up to a full medium one. I have to say that if it’s really hot outside (for sure my skin type doesn’t help) it doesn’t last the whole day but in the evening or on cooler days mattifies and stays put really well and, most important, you  feel like there’s absolutely nothing on your skin!
In a nutshell:
Pro: super cheap, light on the skin, mattifies and evens out the complexion, does not contain talc.
Con: doesn’t last on combination to oily skin if it’s hot and/or humid outside.

Kiko blotting papers     http://www.kikocosmetics.it/
If your skin looks like a bit mirrored as mine does you can’t stop yourself from using blotting papers, the only product that really stops you from shining like a diamond roasted chicken. I particularly love the ones from kiko for the good price/quality ratio since you get a ton papers for a really cheap price. Plus I love the packaging, different from the ‘classic’ paper one that starts to fall apart two months after the product is floating at the bottom of my purse.
In a nutshell:
Pro: they mattify pretty well, the packaging is strong and you get plenty of papers.
Con: //

Eyebrow fix by H&M     http://www.hm.com/
When summer came I became super lazy and basically stopped to fill in my eyebrows, but I still didn’t want them to look messy. This product helped me so much and I’m glad I bought it even if I’m very suspicious when it comes to h&M ‘beauty corner’. It was the first time I tried an eyebrow gel and I think I’ll never stop using one since keeps them in place the whole day without make them look heavy, crusty or shiny. The one little thing I didn’t like about this product is that if I use it with and eyeshadow it moves it, but that doesn’t happen if I use an eyebrow pencil.
In a nutshell:
Pro: lasts all day.
Con: doesn’t work well with eyeshadow.

MNY my varnish in number 343     http://www.lovecosmetics.com/
Let’s face it, it’s not really summer without a coral nail polish. Out of all the ones I own this one has definitely been my favourite in August because lasts a good week (with base and topcoat, of course) and, even if it might need three layers to get a full coverage the result is pretty satisfying, I don’t know, it just makes me happy.
In a nutshell:
Pro: long wear, a full coral color.
Con: it might need three layers.

These were my August beauty favourites! Which were yours? Let me know in the comments!
